Ear wax removal
Ear wax removal
Believe it or not, the hearing troubles you’ve been experiencing may not be hearing loss. It may simply be a matter of ear wax buildup (aka. Cerumen). Ear wax buildup can lead to more than just hearing troubles. It can cause dizziness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), infection, or cause a plugged sensation (occlusion).
The safest way to remove earwax and start hearing properly again is through the help of a professional. Ear wax build-up is a common issue, typically caused by Q-tips, fingers and earplugs pushing wax back into the ear canal. It is strongly advised to never use Q-tips or objects to self-remove wax. Instead, allow our ear care practitioners to safely remove wax build-up in your ear, using techniques that are extremely effective and comfortable for the patient.
Tinnitus Treatment
Tinnitus treatment
Are your ears ringing? Do you actually hear something or is it the perception of noise?
Tinnitus affects approximately 1 in 5 Canadians. It is the perception of noise through ringing in the ears when no external sound is actually present. Causes of tinnitus include natural ageing, loud noise exposure and wax build-up in the ear canal. Unfortunately, many view tinnitus as a normal part of their every day, and therefore learn to cope with the uncomfortable feeling. At Ears Canada, we want you to know that tinnitus is not something to simply cope with, but an issue that can be improved through the help of our professionals. Our professional audiologist is here to help you manage your tinnitus and regain your quality of life.
Central Auditory Processing (Temporarily On Hold)
Central Auditory Processing Disorder
***Please note CAPD testing is temporarily on hold***
CAPD is a condition where the brain interprets information from the ears in a different way. It can often be misinterpreted as hearing loss or an intellectual disability but with proper testing those things can be ruled out.
People with CAPD often have difficulties with:
- Understanding what is said to them
- Blocking out background noise
- Understanding where some sounds are coming from
- Differentiating between similar sounds in the same words
While CAPD is more commonly diagnosed in children it is important to know adults can also be affected by it.
If you are interested in a CAPD test for you child or yourself please click here to schedule an appointment. Testing is typically only given to children over 7 years old and done in the morning. Cost for CAPD testing is $350.00
